1949 Packard Super 8 - $47,900 - Orange Village, OH -

Packard Super Eight was the name given to the larger of the two eight cylinder luxury automobiles produced by the Packard Motor Car Company of Detroit, Michigan. Packard's body design for 1949 - it's Golden Anniversary year - was labeled by the company as new, but it had actually been introduced a year earlier. It was a big departure from previous Packard designs and an answer to Cadillac's fresh, new P-38-inspired tail fins. Packards in the Super series were powered by a 327-cubic inch straight-eight engine that produced 150 horsepower, making them ideal long-distance tow vehicles.

The top-of-the-line models offered the convertible Victoria body style, which was the main attraction. Big, powerful, spacious and truly modern in every way, the Packard delivered full-sized luxury that must be experienced to be understood. It included every innovation of the day, including hydraulic power assist for the windows, seat and convertible top. On the Super 8, the 327 cubic inch straight-eight was standard equipment and moves the big convertible effortlessly with that characteristic smoothness that only Packard seems to be able to deliver.

This 22nd series car was restored about 15 years ago and is in excellent condition. The leather and cord interior is flawless. All gauges work, as do the power windows, power seat and power top. The radio works nicely. Chrome is excellent; however the paint is showing its age. Twin spot lights and twin outside mirrors are also present. The car sports new BF Goodrich Silvertown radials.

The following work has been done:
Radiator reconditioning
New clutch and brake pads
New front king pins
New fuel pump
All new wheel cylinders
Complete new dash & engine wire harness
New battery
All 5 wheels refinished, new hubcaps and beauty rings

Many other repairs have been done; the complete list is available upon request.

This early 1949 Packard Super 8 Convertible represents one of only 4,250 examples produced marking the end of the Super 8 Series. Unique cars of this caliber are quickly appreciating in the collector car market. We encourage any potential buyer to call with any questions.
