1954 Ford Crestline - $49,900 - Bedford Heights, OH - The 1954 Ford Crestline Skyliner was an automobile featuring a 2-door hardtop body style with an integrated acrylic glass panel over the front seating area. The factory brochure pronounced it “Glamourous Anywhere!” and glamourous it was. With a blue-green tint, the glass admitted “a soft, diffused light, yet filter[ed] out 60% of the sun’s rays.” The feature proved quite popular, as 13,144 were sold in the single year of production. 1954 was a successful year for Ford, as it introduced a host of new technology and styling advances. With their slogan 'More than ever, the standard for the American road,' Ford was intent on becoming the leader in the low-priced, entry-level market.
This Skyliner has been totally restored. It has a new 312 cubic inch, 225 hp Ford performance upgraded Y block engine with an Edelbrock 4 BBL carburetor with Offenhauser valve covers.
Some of the options on this car include power steering, power brakes, deluxe wheel covers, tinted glass, door handle guards, deluxe eight-tube AM radio, Magic-Aire climate control, continental kit and fender skirts.
Despite their initial popularity, 1954 Skyliners are seldom seen in the collector market. This example has no needs and is ready to show in any Concours or drive anywhere.
