2001 Porsche 911 - $34,900 - Orange Village, OH -

6-speed, 38,442 original miles, new tires, loaded with options.

This 2001 Carrera cabriolet is the purest expression of the open-air 911, featuring a 6-speed manual gearbox and traditional rear-wheel-drive, which provides exciting performance with light weight and impressive handling. As a treasured fair-weather toy, this Frost Silver cab has never seen winter weather and if it’s ever been in the rain, it was only by surprise. With just over 38,000 original miles, this one remains in exceptional condition with no issues in its past and hardly any signs that it’s been driven at all. The hood has been protected from new by an “invisible bra” which protects the nose from wayward road debris. The rockers, wheel housings, and chin spoiler are all quite nice, despite the wide sticky tires that this car has always worn.

Supportive gray leather buckets are power actuated for both driver and passenger, and while Porsche calls the 911 a 4-seater, the rear seats are best reserved for children under 5 or people you hate. Gauges are arranged in traditional Porsche fashion, with a big tachometer front and center and the other gauges arranged around it in a slick 3-dimensional instrument panel. The center stack became more ergonomically friendly, too, with the AM/FM/CD changer controls up high plus remarkably effective climate controls. Power windows and keyless entry, a power convertible top, cruise control, and all the other luxury and convenience items you’d expect are included, perhaps an anachronism in a pure sports car, but Porsche has always been about zero compromises. This car also carries a lot of Porsche upgrades, including the embossed headrests, colorful Porsche crest emblems on the steering wheel and center caps, a wind blocker, and fitted floor mats.

Power was up, too, with the 2001 911 making a nice, round 300 horsepower from 3.4 liters, an impressive feat. The flat-six still has a wonderful tenor howl at high RPM and wonderful torque at just about any speed. The 6-speed manual gearbox is delightful and as always, Porsche clutches are virtually indestructible. This car has always enjoyed proper maintenance, including a fresh crankcase full of synthetic motor oil, and the good news is that the 996 cars have proven themselves to be as reliable as a Honda Accord despite their astronomical performance potential. Underneath, the car is completely untouched and original, totally unmodified, and with zero issues. It wears vented and cross-drilled rotors at all four corners, which reportedly reduces brake temperatures by as much as 30 degrees, further enhancing Porsche’s reputation for immensely powerful brakes. And somehow Porsche has endowed this Carrera with a ride that’s comfortable enough to drive to work, yet clings tenaciously to your favorite winding country road with absolutely confidence. Part of the credit surely belongs to the lightweight 18-inch alloys, which wear 225/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear high-performance radials.

If you’re looking for an everyday supercar, this is it. With low mileage, exceptional maintenance, and a long list of options, it’s an outstanding example of the breed. Call today!
